Tea Break with Ianny

malaysian politicians required to blog

April 14, 2008 · No Comments

Five years ago, people hardly knew what blogs were.

How time has changed!

In the post-mortem of the results of Malaysia’s recent elections, the ruling party Barisan Nasional (BN) has identified critical online commentaries and bloggers’ influence as contributors to the devastating showing.

As a result of the poor performance, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi has consented to internal calls for early party polls.

Posting a blog is a new requirement for candidates who are eyeing positions in the December 2008 polls.  They are to introduce themselves, state their stances and explain their plans in their blogs.
